Florida day 3: Universal/Islands of Adventure

Bit of a lie-in today after two hectic days. Drove over to Universal again, this time starting in the main Studios park. Rip Ride Rocket was a walk-on so we did it twice in a row. Twister followed, then The Mummy just because we were passing and had enjoyed it yesterday. According to the queue app, Gringotts was closed, so we thought we'd take advantage of Diagon Alley being quiet. As it happened, the ride was getting ready to reopen, and as such we had a very short queue indeed!
After midday the shows began so we saw the Animal Actors, which was very cute, and then after lunch the Horror Makeup show, which was hilarious. I do like the way Universal's shows tend to have a lot more tongue-in-cheek humour. An ice cream and the Terminator 2 show followed. The other rides we fancied doing had fairly long queues at this point, so we headed across to Islands of Adventure.
A quick and enjoyable spin round The Cat In The Hat was how we began there. The ride staff were all asking if it was raining outside, and while it wasn't, by the time we exited a large dark cloud was looming. We headed for Poseidon's Fury, which was again rather entertaining, and as we exited it had begun to rain a little.
Passing through Hogsmeade, Dragon Challenge was closed due to weather. As we reached Toon Lagoon we discovered that actually all the outdoor rides were - this was quite a problem as most of Islands of Adventure's rides are outdoor ones! We'd planned to go on Bluto's Bilgerat Barges again, but by the time we reached it it was raining heavily. We found a sheltered area opposite and sat down to wait for the rain to pass.
Half an hour later the sky was still merrily depositing gallons of water on the ground, and the staff on the rides nearby had begun to shut down for the day, as it was nearing closing time and the weather showed no sign of improving. We decided to cut our losses and head back to Universal, via the Spiderman ride, which had no queue.
Back at Universal we found the remaining show we wanted to see, Disaster was closed due to technical difficulties. Instead we headed over to the Simpsons ride and did that. Disaster remained unavailable, and we were getting tired so decided to head back to see if the Despicable Me Minions ride had a short enough queue to make it worth doing. It did, so that was our final ride of the day (we actually got 1.5 goes on it, as someone had got their kid on their lap, causing the operator to e-stop the attraction midway, and so they had to reset and restart once they'd sorted it out!)
On the way home we got a little lost attempting to find Walmart, but eventually found it and stocked up on supplies for the next fortnight. We now have a selection of bagels for breakfast, plus Pop Tarts in an assortment of flavours, and enough bottled water to drown a fish. Dinner was at the Port Orleans food court, where I found a Roast Beef Melt sandwich and Apple Blossom did me nicely.
